Client Spotlight - Jonathan and Sasha

Jonathan and Sasha originally came to me through another client in their community. Not only are they both highly talented artists, they’re both extremely thoughtful, inclusive, and and intelligent people, with whom I am happy to say I share a friendship. When we met, they’d just moved to Santa Fe and were looking for a local print shop to work with who was willing to accommodate not only the fandom they exist in, but their need for creative freedom as well. Although I only got to print for Jonathan, their partnership during the process allowed me to spend time with both of them and I’m glad it did.

Before things like traveling and social situations were so difficult, Jonathan and Sasha traveled all over the country and abroad selling art at conventions and hosting talks on some heavy duty topics, sharing their insights with people all over the world.

Here’s some stuff we made for Jonathan.

Jonathan has been exploring things like religion and spirituality for what seems like a really long time, and this project is only a small part of that. The illustration of the wolf was done by a young member of his family, and the text is from Genesis.

I was able to experiment a little bit here with some very subtle halftones, making this print very light and almost chalk-like in appearance, while maintaining the hand-written font that Jonathan provided.

Jonathan also provided me with some artwork that he’d tried to have printed once before, and was not stoked on the results. There’s so many different facets of this illustration that it’s hard to encapsulate them all here, but one of my favorite parts of this print is the self portrait in the middle. We put these prints on some super nice Bella + Canvas tanks, and so far they’ve made it all over the country.
